South Indian Film Posters

The video was made in collaboration with video artist Smriti Mehra for the City One Minutes art project. Matt Lee has been photographing South Indian film posters in and around Bangalore.

Macho Men and Flirtatious Women. Local language, hand drawn lithographic film posters and the larger, glossier offset film posters contribute largely to the visual culture and character of the streets of Bangalore. An ongoing gallery of these film posters I have been photographing as well as a video sketch of the lithographic printers responsible for a large part of this output.
