My Early Influences

Gee Vaucher

Back in the vegetarian, ragged thrift wears and slightly rebellious teen stage, one of my earliest artistic influences was punk cover art. Specifically the cover art for much of Crass Records. The woman responsible, Gee Vaucher. Her technical pre-computer collage and gouache mixed with a potent political and social messages sent my mind into a frenzy. I started chopping headlines from newspapers and making patterns on typewriters. All the craft and messages help make me the designer I am today.
