If you are ever in Chicago and have the opportunity to go to Alinea, I highly recommend that you take it. One of our country's most insane restaurants the whole experience is a pretty remarkably designed.
At the end of your dinner you are handed the menu that outlines the dinner you had. Upon conversation with our waiter we learned that the menu tried to visually represent many factors of the meal that you otherwise wouldn't notice.
The circles represent a few different attributes. The size of the circle represents the size of the course, the smaller the circle the more petite the dish. Also, darkness of the circle represents the intensity of the course the lighter the course the lighter the circle, the darker the more intense. The big kicker is that the farther left the circle the more savory the dish and the farther to right the sweeter.
And that's just the menu, you should try the food.
